Hi
This might seem a bit of a silly question
Since having RA and being on various meds I seem to be getting more facial hair- particularly this last year, and if I didn't do something about it, I'd end up looking like one of the blokes off the 118 adverts!
Has this happened to anyone else- or is it simply due to the menopause which I hit 5 yrs ago?

Hi Marie,Yes! I have the same problem,checking in a magnifing mirror every day using tweezers.I really thought it was Steroids but now i do not.Course jet black hairs like pulling wire out.No i have not got an answer to it myself.Be interesting no if some one can help.

Hello Maria, I started to get more facial hair post menopause, presumably hormone related. Often have to get tweezers out to pluck odd hairs......delightful! This however happened a few years before being diagnosed with ra for me and have not become any hairier since getting ra, that I have noticed anyway!!!
I don't know, what we have to put up with! Zena x.

Me too- much worse since the arrival of RA-keep meaning to go to docs for a hormone check, nice to know it's not just me tho! YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

I've found that too, just around the chin area. I'm very fair and not at all hairy and i have to shave off a few black hairs on my chin every few days.
I had an early menopause and it's only snce RA that i've had the problem. I've nether connected the two before.

Thanks all so far. Maybe it isn't connected- just coincidence- or hormonal. I can't remember my mum having the same problem though. I guess it's probably something I've got to live with. Using the tweezers is a faff though. I do use the nair cream and have tried wax strips- yuk! Maybe one day I'll be too old to care!

i have to check every few days as well on chin i just shave them of lol next time i look they are back xxx

I am sitting here very red having just waxed my various problem areas on my face. I suffer from polycistic ovaries and hairiness has been the bain of my life. Yes it is getting worse as I get older so you would have thought, as my ovaries are less active, that the hairiness would be better but unfortunately not.
My youngest Sister is getting married on Saturday so I am currently de-fuzzing. The next challenge is to try and reach my toe nails which unfortunately is not easy with a knee replacement. Only Daughter is away on holiday until morning of Wedding and cannot get time off work to get them done professionally.
He ho the challenges of RA.

I agree with all the comments and frequently have my tweezers out with the magnifying mirror!!! How come men lose hair as they get older and ladies get it where they don't want it???   Sue

hi guys,i have chin hair as well but i have an underactive thyroid and that doesnt help,menopause was another hairy gift,but i havent noticed if meds caused more,i have a groom once a week,or i end up with chin whiskers similar to floor brush,dorothy

The weird thing is, most of the hair in my armpits has disappeared and I don't have to worry about that anymore
Jackie- don't get me started about not being able to reach toenails.......

 sadly, I do the tweezer and little mirror thing! I didn't have this before ra! I need my lip waxed - normally I get it all done properly....recovering with my foot - do I order online waxing kit from chemist?????? Or, will my face look like a spotty teenagers after a few days?!! Don't want do dye lip hair because I know it is lurking! Any advice? Ohh, gone the days of flexible joints to do my toe nails....I ask my hubby to do it....then remember after he's cut them, he takes the nail too short and isn't gentle in holding my foot/toes! I asked if he could pop some nail varnish on for me, so I can look girly! He said no!!! I have to work on that one! Jane Xxx

same here under arm hair has dissapeared and legs dont need done so offten think it all went on my chin  always looking in mirror to see if its back, i go get toe nails done at podiatry once every 2 month feert to cut them myself, smile the summer sun has come to bonnie scotland at last xx

When I was on the steroids I had a bit of an issue as I thought the hair on my cheeks was more kind of downy. This soon cleared up when I came off the steroids. I noticed these changes easily as I'm not naturally a hairy person.
